Home cleanout and donations, handled with care
Sorting a lifetime of belongings is emotional work. Here is how it gets done fairly, respectfully, and without you hauling boxes.

How it works
- Keepsakes first. Family members claim items by a set date. Anything in dispute gets photographed and set aside.
- Valuables and papers. Jewelry, documents, medications, and firearms are removed before anyone else enters the house.
- Estate sale or consignment for items with resale value, when it is worth the time.
- Donation pickups for usable furniture, clothing, and household goods.
- Final haul-away for everything else, then a cleaning so the house is ready for prep or listing.
The family gets a simple record of what went where, which helps when siblings are not all local.
Costs
Cleanout crews and estate sale companies quote before any work starts and bill you or the estate directly. You approve every cost. Nothing begins without your OK.
Common questions
How long does a cleanout take?
Often one to three weeks, depending on how much is in the house and whether there is an estate sale.
What if family members disagree about items?
Set a claim date, photograph disputed items, and let the person with authority make the final call. A neutral process prevents most conflicts.
Do I need to be there?
Usually not. I coordinate the crews and send photos before and after.
